Bio
I'm just a dorky Asian girl trying to find herself. I'm filled with some hard-earned angst and I channel it towards the most noble of causes, such as making thoughtful people laugh. Generally, I enjoy conversing with people and interacting with them which is why I'm on here. But I dislike conversation of the small variety. I tend to not like small things. It's either go big or go home with me.

I'm a feminist. Yes, I've dropped the f-bomb. So all misogynists and sissy macho boys, beware! (If you're confused about the 'sissy macho boy' comment, or think you might be infected with the virus, feel free to ask me vis-a-vis an RP mail.) I think feminists and women in general need to get their shit together but we do have the fundamentals down pat.

I'm not looking for a serious relationship at the moment. I'm looking to meet people, make friends, and work on making myself the best person possible. I can't create me if I'm busy creating a two-person entity. I'd rather be unattached right now. For my own good. And for your own good too. But I'm easy going about who I talk to. If you can make me laugh and hold a decent conversation, I'm game.

I was born in China but I've successfully assimilated myself into what is known as "western society". Which means I speak fluent English, believe in genuine democracy, and say 'eh' a lot. But don't be fooled! Being Chinese does not make me any more well-informed on the China-Tibet issue than anyone else. Nor does it make me automatically sympathetic towards communism. It simply means the western media has a much harder time brainwashing me into believing their polarization of the two sides. The China-Tibet issue is far more complex than that. The same goes for communism. So if you want to debate to me about these things, please read more than just editorials from western sources. It'll save us both some time. My bicultural upbringing has also had other side effects in my life. For one, I can't go a week without eating rice. But I also find it rare for me to be attracted to someone of the same race as me. After being told repeatedly for the past 8 years that the white anglo-Canadian experience is the 'norm', I do have a hard time accepting the fact that my experiences are also perfectly legitimate.

I'm trying to work on a lot of things. I'm old enough to have made some mistakes in my life but I'm also young enough to bounce back from those mistakes. I'm bouncing right now. Bouncing all over the place. Just hoping to slip into a right one sometime soon. This is probably the best time for me to do it because let's face it, I'm in the best shape of my life mentally and physically. I might as well take full advantage of it and make my life the best it can be. I do think everything will work out in the end. If they haven't, then it's obviously not the end.

I think I've revealed enough for you, dear internet stranger. You'll have to do some work now to know more. Nothing worth having ever comes easy! My acquaintance falls into that category.

So get on it.

Hey, if its gotta be imperialism, I say let it be western imperialism and not russian or german imperisalism!

[rolleyes]

and yes, by "English-speaking culture", I am being typically egocentric and using those who speak English as a metonymy for Western values as a whole, including those who do not speak English.

The idea essentially is that veterans serve in the military to protect our freedom and the freedom of others around the world. When they fought in World War 2 against the spread of Nazism and later Communism, they ensured English-speaking culture lives on

Aaryn's reply:
Rofl. RIGHT.
I should be HAPPY about imperialism.
rlevitin Oct 8, 8:02 pm
because if not for the veterans, you would likely be reading it in German or Russian.

Aaryn's reply:
Elaborate.
